Traceability
Sustainable Harvest focuses on traceability from seed all the way to the final cup. Using technology and reliable communications, we connect partners and create a more sustainable coffee supply chain. With complete traceability, the story of a coffee comes alive. Farmers are able to separate the highest quality beans for sale on the premium market and learn where their coffee is sold. Roasters are able to reliably source the same coffees year after year.
To ensure traceability, Sustainable Harvest created the Relationship Information Tracking System (RITS), a proprietary tracking software to manage the logistics of our supply chain and increase transparency in our business operations. Today, Sustainable Harvest continues to build on this initiative by using radio frequency technology and computerized systems to trace coffee from various cooperatives. These traceability systems help farmers add value and find new market niches for their coffees; for example, data from the system helps distinguish lots as single-origin or women-only produced specialty coffees.
