About the producer

We're pleased to share that Gisuma is part of our Double Your Impact program. Sustainable Harvest® will be reinvesting all profits earned from Rwandan coffees sales into Rwanda farmers through the Relationship Coffee Institute

Gisuma has experienced rapid growth and success since its founding: The cooperative now has 182 members who have all seen substantial improvements to their lives through coffee, and has been recognized with Cup of Excellence awards twice at the national level.

This success has been aided by the co-op’s involvement in Sustainable Harvest-Rwanda’s training program, which has taught the women at Gisuma cooperative management skills, as well as best agricultural practices to improve the quality and productivity of their coffee trees.

As a result, the women have been earning higher prices from their coffee than ever before. With the help of these increased profits, Gisuma has been able to make many investments in the co-op and its members, including:

  • Constructing roads to more easily transport coffee
  • Building infrastructure to access clean water
  • Securing health insurance for co-op members
