The farms of Asotatamá are located in the buffer zone of the Tatamá National Park in the la serranía de las Paraguas mountains, which is separated from the nearby West Colombian Andes mountains by Vueltas-Garrapatas river canyon. This area is located in the El Aguila municipality of the Valle del Cauca department.
Five communities representing a total of 95 members, 25 of whom are women, make up Asotatama. Each farmer owns an average of 2.5 acres, producing Colombia, Castillo, Bourbon, and Arabigo varieties at elevations ranging from 1600 to 1900 meters above sea level.
To support their quality initiatives and improve farmer livelihoods, the cooperative offers their members preferred loans through a rotating fund and a cupping lab that trains young coppers in quality control. Additionally, the co-op provides their members with agronomic technical assistance on the farm level, subsided education opportunities, and other services aimed at improving the quality of life for farmers and their families.
