Job Title: Senior Accountant

Team: Head of Finance, Managing Director & one direct report (Accounting Assistant)

Location: Bogotá, Colombia

The Senior Accountant will contribute to Sustainable Harvest’s vision to be the global leader, transparent, farm-to-roaster coffee trading by managing the financial reporting for the company. The senior accountant will also work with management to innovate around transparent financial reporting, open book accounting, triple-bottom-line reporting, and sustainability accounting.

Primary Objective:

Provide financial oversight and manage the financial reporting for all activities of the direct-relationship business under the direction of the heads of finance for SH and Sucafina Americas.

Daily:

  • Oversee daily AP / AR transactions managed by the accounting assistant

  • Oversee invoicing / customer billing managed by the accounting assistant

  • Oversee expense reimbursements managed by the accounting assistant

 

Weekly:

  • Prepare and submit weekly borrowing base with SH head of finance:
    •  Cashflowforecast( including producer payments forecast
    • Inventory valuation – M2M
    • Borrowing Base Certificate
  • Host AR meetings with traders and oversee collections with the accounting assistant and trade team

  • Global Hedge / Brokerage reconciliation

Monthly:

  • Prepare monthly closings, including reporting to head office, head of finance & and MD of M2M accounting under the guidance of SH finance head
  • Monthly payroll (e.g., upload payroll information, send payroll approval, manage any contractor payments, manage Mexico entity payroll, create invoices for service agreements)
  • Reconciliations of AP, AR, Intercompany billing/balance management, inventory reconciliation (w/ logistics)

Annually / Ongoing:

  • Understand the financial activities of the business

  • Register and monitor accruals and significant non-routine postings

  • Identify and implement process improvements

  • Responsible for the preparation and issuing of the annual financial statements

  • Responsible for annual audit and collateral exam

  • Oversee tax preparation in all states & countries and for both SH entities (Mexico & USA)

  • Work with the coffee team and managers on transparent and sustainable financial

    reporting structures

  • Any other relevant finance tasks required by the Head of Finance

Experience & Qualifications

  • University Degree in Accounting
  • 4-5 years experience in accounting roles
  • C1 English and above
  • Spanish (advanced or native)
  • Interest in sustainable coffee trading
  • Passion for transparency in pricing and financial reporting
