Roasters Choice Competition goes to Equator Coffees

Posted by Wynne McAuley on April 15, 2013 at 11:26 AM

Among the very many events happening every year in conjunction with the SCAA Expo, one of our favorites is always the Roasters Choice Award.  The competition focuses on the art of coffee roasting--to win, a roaster submits a single-origin coffee that is brewed and judged by Q-graders during the SCAA. What is so great about the competition is that it makes the hard work of everyone in the supply chain shine through in a final, delicious, hard-earned cup. Every part of the story is heard, and growers, imports, and roasters can celebrate their collective effort to bring this coffee to some very appreciative tastebuds at SCAA.

This year we are ecstatic that our partner, Equator Coffees & Teas, won the Roasters Choice Award with an incredible AAA grade Geisha grown by one of our suppliers, Granja La Esperanza, on their Cerro Azul farm. Equator and Granja la Esperanza deserve this recognition for their extreme dedication to their craft. Our congrats to both--we are honored to have imported this coffee and to be a part of this special relationship!
